Day 5

Didn't pray last night. Cancelled my order for Jeff Cavins book. Was reading the bible in bed last night, in addition to the Companion book and it felt like I was going through the motions. The same feeling I had when I started the podcast in 2023 and when I got to around Day 150 or so.  I joined the Bible in a Year Facebook page, and I have to admit, I'm jealous of all of those who seem to be so consumed with the spirit of Christ and who are so enthusiastic about their daily readings. And the comprehensive notes that some of these folks write into their bibles! It's absolutely stunning and remarkable. I don't know why but I feel like somewhat of an outsider in the group. There's this pious vibe that sort of makes a lot of the people their appear fake and self-righteous. I could be wrong, though. They might all be excellent people. Possibly, I'm looking at them from my own dark mindset.  Anyway, I haven't finished today's podcast nor commenced the readi...

Day 4

Today we dealt with one of the most known stories from the Old Testament: Noah's Ark. I presume the story is more allegorical than literal. I'll have to look that up--not too sure how to interpret it. That said, there is something to be said about the purifying nature of water and the chance to rebuild and start fresh.  I received an e-mail from Ascension today (or yesterday?) where they suggested that I purchase "Walking With God: A Journey through the Bible" because Fr. Schmitz mentions it often in the podcast. It's not that expensive, so I might pick it up. I feel something stirring in me -- but I'm not too sure what it is yet. I felt my prayer last night was hopelessly bad. I honestly don't know how to pray. Amendment #1 Just ordered Walking With God by Jeff Cavins. Stressful day but I feel like I'm starting to reach a point where I can just say: It's in God's hands. I'll just rely on Jesus to do what is best.

Days 1, 2, and 3

Hi! This is a blog that will cover my second attempt at completing Fr. Schmitz's Bible in a Year podcast. Yes, I strayed from my faith in search of something else -- something that I regret. But I won't let the evil ones distract me any longer. I'm back and looking forward to continuing this spiritual journey. Thanks for reading and following along!
